Hi,
What does a Wimax modem do please?
thanks.
I saw that page. The wikipedia expands the issue to several pages. I want a brief definition of the work(s) which Wimax does.
wimax is long-range wifi (range comparable to cellphones). That modem connects to such long-range wifi that someone else with serious equipment broadcasts.
Afaik, it has a major performance drop when air moisture is above a certain level. Which is a fancy way to say that it sucks when rains. Don't know about your country, but this detail was a deal-breaker for operators in mine.
Don't know if they managed to fix the issue. I doubt it though.
Unless there is someone saying your area is covered by wimax, and you subscribe/pay for such services, it's useless.
Seems like 3G (for the moment) and 4G (for the future) are the technologies doing most of the serious mobile internet.
OK.
Wimax makes a connection between the computer (end point) and the far equipment in a way that it receives the data from that far equipment and gives it to the computer (as a receiver) and again gets the data from the computer and sends it for that far equipment (as a sender). Is it correct?
Yes. It's a two-way communication.
Wimax is the name of the "language" the devices use to talk to each other.
Other names are other "languages". In the wikipedia article there is a table with other languages.
