    25 average ping spikes to 1600 every few seconds


    Hi, i have a major issue with my connection, i ended up crashing my pc a few days ago and ran a system restore to reformate and get back to factory settings, however after setting up my internet (verizon fios)
    i now experiance massive sping spikes from my pre reformat ping of 16-25ms to 50-1600ms
    im on a wireless connection but that shouldent matter considering that the pc is in the same place it was prior to the reformat. the spikes happen for 2-3 seconds about every ten seconds, i cant watch videos, play online games download programs or anything with this, so if there is anything you experts can do to help fix the problem i would be very greatfull.

    If you did a format then this is most likely a driver issue. What is the exact make/model of your machine?, so I can help find a driver for you to try.

    amd athlon quad core pross.
    Amd HD 7770 direct vid card
    windows 7 premium 64 bit
    802.11n network card

    Please find your appropriate Wireless driver attached below. Uninstall your current network driver from device manager and then install the driver attached. Once done please reboot and test your ping response times.

    did that, ran the "ping www.google.com" command following results apreared

    Next step I would suspect is a third party application. Can you boot your machine into safe mode with networking and test your pings. Please disable any anti-virus and firewall applications temporarily since these are suspects as well.

    Please replace all references of 'Safe Mode' with 'Safe Mode with Networking'


    Lastly, Does this affect any other machines or devices on the network? If so does it affect wired or wireless connections or both?

    im on a wireless network but ive never had ping issues before, ive played League of legends for over a year with 12ms ping now all of a sudden im averaging 50 with spikes to 1600..

    ill give it a shot safe mode with networking to see if it could be third party.

    booted in safemode with networking pinged google, got 16ms as my highest spike,

    also pingtested my router to look for packet loss and there is none

    no other pcs on the network have been effected ether, only mine and only since i did the system restore

    If the pings were normal in safe mode then it must be some sort of application causing the issue rather than a physical problem. Please follow this tutorial and help determine what the culprit application is - Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

    Please understand that it is a long process. If you did factory reset to when you first bought the machine then it may be some bloatware causing it.
