    Ethernet connection lost after standby

    Hey all,

I have Windows 7 RTM Pro x64 on my laptop, and have for the past couple of months now (before that it was beta/RC). I haven't been having any severe issues until recently.

Since it is a laptop, and i carry it to 3-4 classes a day (using wifi), i almost always put it in standby. However, if i wake the computer from standby and then try connecting to a wired network, I will never recieve an ip address, nor will it be able to send any packets. My only solution is to reboot. I've also noticed that when i boot into linux, standby does not affect the wired networking.

My network card is a realtek PCIe gigabit. My laptop is an MSI GX620. I am connecting to my school's a/g/n wireless network during the day (without issue) and in my room i (try to) use the gigabit ethernet.

    Any ideas? Anything is welcome!

Go into properties for the wireless in the device manager. Under power management tab, uncheck the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

Thanks, I just unchecked the box for the wireless and the wired. I'm in class now, so we'll see if this works once I get back to my room.

    Thanks!
