Connecting to Wireless Router keeps connecting and disconnecting

    Hello Guys,

I am having trouble with my wireless connection. It was working fine till a couple of days back and then started acting up. Let me explain the problem in detail.

System connects to the router. It shows full signal. After 10-15 seconds the wireless gets disconnected. After that the behaviour is quite varied. Sometimes the router itself is not recongnized. Sometimes the router is recognized but the system doesnt connect. If I force it to then it again says cannot connect to a hidden network. After a while maybe 4-5 mins later it recongnizes and tries connecting again sometimes it succeeds sometimes it doesnt.

My System Specifications are given below.

    1. Samsung Ultrabook Series S - Model NP530U3C-A01UK
    2. Processsor - Intel COre 5-3317U CPU @1.70 Ghz
    3. Windows 7 Hope Premium - 64 Bit OS
    4. Wireless Network Adaptor - Intel Centrino Advaced N-6235
    5. ROuter - Thomson
    6. 6GB RAM

A Little bit about my Home network
There are 5 devices connected usually. My Wife's PC which is a Dell Inspiron and runs on Windows 7 Home premium, My Ipad, 2 of our Smart Phones and My PC. Every other device currently works fine except mine. So looks like the problem is with my system rather than the router or network provider.

Remedies I have tried and failed
    1. Updated the Network Driver by downloading and installing it from Intel Website
    2. From the ROuter side manually changed the channel to see if that has an effect
    3. FLushed my DNS, tried to release and renew IPs
    4. Changed the Encryption parameters
    5. Removed and added the network again
    6. DOwnloaded Xirrus Wifi Inspector.
    7. Diabled the 802.11n from adapter and tried.

None of the above worked. Now I have reached the end of my ability to find out what the issue is. I am posting this but connecting to internet by my phoes USB tethering which in turn is connected to the same router I am having problems with.

Please help me. Any nudge in the right direction is greaty appreciated. If you need more info about my system please let me know.

    With Regards,
    Avisesh.

I hate to say it, but since you have done everything I would have done, its possible the wireless adapter is broken/not functioning correctly. Is the product still under warranty? Especially since you stated that other devices connect just fine.
So its probably not the router.
The only other thing I can think of to try would be to buy another wireless router and test it with that.
If you have no problems, something is amiss.
You could also set your router back to factory defaults and try again.

Thanks for your response Andrew. Is there a easy way to check if its a Hardware problem? I mean is there a diagnostic software I can run which will tell me if its the adapter which is faulty?

Turn off your security on the router and try to connect to it.
Download the latest drivers from your MANUFACTOR website.
Connect to the router via Ethernet.
If all that fails, its most likely your WiFi adapter.
Have u turned off any services manually?

    Hello Noober,

When you mean latest drivers, do you mean for the wireless adaptor or for the router? If its for the Wreless adapter I have tried the whole lot.

When I USB tether my phone and connect it to my laptop, I am getting internet perfectly. My phone in turn is connecting to my router. So I dont think its a problem with ethernet.

I havent turned off any services manually. Regarding the turning off security, do you mean encryption?

ok, honestly, your best bet then is to either try a restore point on your computer if u have one back before it went out. then try to update the firmware on the router. after that its probs going to be a hardware issue with your adapter.

When Noober refers to ethernet, he's talking about using a CAT5 cable to connect to your router, directly. Honestly, I don't think that it will help your search for a solution. It WILL, however, eliminate the need to tether your phone for this laptop.

Have you tried to connect to any other wireless networks? A coffee shop? A McDonalds? Anything that will help us find out if it's a wireless card issue or something beyond that.

Yes i meant to the router. That would eliminate it being something being in windows like a service not starting etc.

Try the mcdonqlds thing and let us know. If no good, its the adapter.
