No Internet to only 1 of my pc's after modem change

    Hi

This is my first time posting anything on this forum and I'm not sure if it's in the correct section.

I recently changed my broadband from Vodafone Ireland to o2 Ireland.

I waited until vodafone's internet stopped, then installed my new o2 modem but now my main work pc has no internet, but it does have Skype. It is on Ethernet cable.

Ok, all my other pc's in the house are ok, and so is the wireless to all the phones/tablets etc.

I do not have great pc knowledge, but with some help I managed to ping Google.com and its ok. I have disabled avg and windows firewall and still no internet. I have also Googled it of course but I can't find a solution
Basically the internet IS reaching the modem but not my work pc, which was fine up until the changeover.

What could be causing this please, and any ideas on how to fix it.

    Thanks in advance

    Me

Kaktussoft is correct, you have an interconnection since skype is working and you can ping however something is blocking access.

Can you boot the machine into Safe Mode with Networking and test connectivity.

To do so please follow this tutorial (OPTION ONE ONLY) - Safe Mode

       Note
Please replace all references of Safe Mode with Safe Mode with Networking. This will help to see if there is any third party application causing issues.

    Please post back the results,
    Josh :)

Common problem but the solutions are rather vague. It's acting like a DNS problem and Skype doesn't rely on DNS but apparently this doesn't have much to do with the solutions I've found which are few and far between.

Try uninstalling the network adaptor then turn Windows firewall off and back on again. Go to Device Manager right click network adaptors and then scan for changes which should reinstall the network adaptor.

Reboot the machine, if you are still having problems. After that try running the sfc /scannow command to see if there is any system file corruption. :)

You might also try running the file below which will flush the DNS and reset winsock/TCP/IP etc.
