    Computer not detecting network hardware

    Hello,
I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 onto a laptop which once has had working internet.
Since the installation has been completed, I no longer have access to internet. Wireless or wired.

In the bottom right of the screen it has the network icon with a red X through it. When I try to troubleshoot it says:
Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. Seeing as the network adapter has worked previously I am stumped. I have tried installing drivers but none of them have seemed to work.
It seems like the computer is not registering there is hardware for the internet.

Also, when I go into my device manager, there isn't an option for network adapters there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been stumping me all day long.

    Thanks.

I don't know if it matters but I went from W8 to W7 install.... I'm wondering if I lost drivers or connection to the hardware somehow while doing that =/
But it was working on W8 and now is not working on W7

All drivers are fine in device manager. Expect those under "other devices". It displays the type it detects. But win7 hasn't drivers out-of-the-box for it.

What type model laptop is it?

You're trying to connect the machine wired (using network cable) or wirelessly? If you make that work first... you are connected to internet and hopefully "windows update" will get the remaining drivers.

    It's a very new machine... win7 hasn't the correct drivers out-of-the box.

Even if I connect it hardwired it doesn't connect to the internet either.
