Windows 7: Using Windows Remote Assistance with Windows 7 Home Premium

Windows Remote Assistance Compatibility Issues

Thanks much to all for your help with this question. As I understand it, different bit versions (i.e., 32 vs 64) do not preclude Remote Assistance; but certain other settings and conditions are known to be essential. In the instant case, an error message indicated the computer requesting assistance did not support Remote Assistance (in this particular configuration). However, the error message provided no specific information as to what needed to be fixed. Is there something akin to an online Windows utility or "tool" that could be used to diagnose and resolve Remote Assistance compatibility issues?

Easy Connect is the part of the Remote Assistance that often fails as it requires that both assisted and assisting computer use the same Windows version and that the routers on both ends support Peer Name Resolution Protocol. The error message you describe sounds like a typical Easy Connect issue.

In most cases the Remote Assistance works with invitation file even when Easy Connect is not available. read more: Remote Assistance - Use in Windows

Most easy to use and practical (my personal subjective opinion) third party alternativies are LogMeIn and TeamViewer.
