    Can connect to other PC, but cannot reach internet through it

    Hi,

    I am currently attempting to connect PC1 to the internet through PC2, which does have a connection.

    PC1 can see PC2, and copy files from it, but cannot reach the internet.

    I have already tried ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew, ipconfig /flushdns, netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt, netsh winsock reset catalog, disable+enable adapter, set IP addresses manually, set IP addresses automatically, MSFixit 50199, winsockfix, and dropping firewalls. Thus far, nothing has worked.

    Windows IP Configuration

    Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::2d97:70b2:58da:4b33%11
    Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.75.51
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : fe80::1573:fb7e:4193:c0dd%11

    Tunnel adapter isatap.{E50D0F3A-5F6D-4C3B-8844-B80C9A0A358B}:

    Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

    Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 9:

    Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

    Ironically, I only want to get to the internet to download Win 8.1, since Win 7 has proven to be so extremely frustrating.

    Does anyone have any idea what could enable me to connect, other than reinstalling Win 7 yet again (for the fourth time in only 18 months)?

    Hi Unhappy, welcome to the Seven forums.

    Have you checked that the Internet connection on PC2 is shared? Tutorial: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ng-enable.html

    Hi Kari,

    Unfortunately, yes, I have already set ICS. The two computers have worked together in this arrangement before, but refuse to do so now.

    Thanks for the thought, though.
