New router - No network access.

Hello, I changed my old router (TP-Link tl-wr740n ) to a new ( TP-Link TL-WR841N ). The problem is when I plug all the cables in to the new router I get "no network access" I tried messing with wireless settings, setting up new wireless connection, cloning MAC address. I have no modem in my house, it's a direct wire that goes in to my router, the also weird thing is if i'm plugging the internet wire in to my computer, it also get's "no internet access". I'm using the wireless router since there are 3 other computers in my house.

You need a modem to go with that router.

Why do I need modem for that router? Why is Ethernet cable enough for this router that I have right now?

Because most likely the old router was a combo unit modem/router, not completely sure has I haven't checked it out but in all cases a modem is required to be plugged into a regular router using the WAN or internet port from the modem going into the WAN or Internet port on the router.

In every case you are better off using a modem connected to a regular router instead of a combo unit and the modem is typically supplied by the ISP.
