Basic Question: How do you share a folder between home computers?

With XP, this was rather simple and it worked.

With Windows 7 that's not the case. I've tried different routers.

I have Windows 7 x64 Pro on my desktop and Windows 7 Home Premium on my HP Laptop.

I want to share my videos and watch pics on my laptop. Seems like a rather basic question, right? However, my searches online left me frustrated. It's a rather basic and simple question yet I can't any illustrations or guides on how to do so.

I've tried the right click thing, nothing. I was able to get as far as the annoying prompt asking me for a User and password on my Laptop but I didn't create one so why is it asking for one? Obviously, it didn't work. I came across the option to map the folder, but I dont know where that was. I am not sure if that has any benefits compared to sharing a folder.

I was hoping for a sticky on how to share your drive or folders on a home network, but I didn't see one here so I am off to creating a new thread.

I am glad to hear things work for you. However, if you read my post it doesn't work for me.
BTW, I ran 20 K the other day without any problem :)
