Windows not detecting a network adapter

Hi, i have a laptop and it had a version of windows 8 release preview on it. I just finished re-installing windows 7 over top of it with the key that came with the laptop, and when i booted it up it could not connect to the internet. I did some troubleshooting and it looks like i have no network adapter installed. Also, in the device manager under other devices it shows and Ethernet and Network controller and both have a yellow exclamation mark next to them.
I have also read that i should mess around with some options in the control panel > network and internet > network connections menu but there is nothing there! I am at a loss so i am hoping maybe somebody here can give me some advice?

Hi there ... Welcome to Seven Forums .. Its never a good idea to Install one OS on top of another one .. If i was you i would start again and do a Clean Install Of Windows 7 .. The Link below will help you achieve this .. When done you should run Windows Updates that should Install most of your Drivers .. Any that are missing can be found in the second Link below ...
