How do I install a Ethernet Card?

This thread is for a friend who needs help with her internet connection. She had Windows 7 installed on her HP Compaq, now she doesn't have a internet connection. I bought a internet card to install for her but I'm not sure how do install it. It is windows 7 compatible. Is there anything else I should check on or do before installing the card.
I know I didn't give any information on her computer, sorry.
Thanks for any advice. Have a great day.

Thanks Matt. I would just update the driver but she doesn't have any internet connection to install it.

If you bought it new i would assume there would be a little manual with instructions. They should have included drivers with the card.

Typically it is as simple as putting the Ethernet card in the pci/pci-e slot (When the computer is off of coarse) and inserting the disk with drivers.

You could probably go to manufacturers website--on a different computer--and they would have drivers and manual. Just put it on a flash drive and off you go :)

Hey Doc, it's a desktop. the card is a Hiro Ethernet PCI Adapter. I think her desktop is as old as me, lol. it also came with a disc.

If her motherboard has a standard empty white PCI slot, you should be able to install it there. Install the driver setup from the disc, reboot & connect the ethernet cable.
