HP Officejet 6500 won't stay connected to wifi

I have an HP Officejet 6500 that just refuses to stay connected to wifi & I have to constantly have a wire hanging out the front of my computer if I want to print something.

I should say I hate this printer all the way around.

But if I could get it to at least stay connected to the wifi so I can freely print I wouldn't mind it as much.

Any idea or help as to fix this persistent issue?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure that I can help you much since I avoid HP stuff as much as possible. Their hardware seems good, but their software/drivers have caused too many problems for those that I support.

Is there an option in the printer to assigning it a static IP address?

    Hello,

In addition, please follow these recommendations from HP Support site.

An update from you will be nice.

Hey sorry guys, forgot about this.

I'm not sure about assigning a static IP address, would I do this through the printer or the router settings?

Would this be in addition to the link for HP Support site 2xg linked to or instead of following that walk-thru?
