Another Homegroup issue
Have seen other post and forums regarding this issue but what worked for others have not worked for me. Most say to delete the idstore.sst file but I did that and it didn't fix the problem. Here's a synopsis of what I'm experiencing and what I've done.
Unable to view homegroup password
Unable to change password.
Unable to delete homegroup.
Second Desktop with exact same hardware and version of windows 7 works.
Laptop with same version Windows 7 works.
Unable to start Peer Networking Protocol service (results with error 0x80000006 Invalid signature)
Unable to start Peer Networking Grouping service (dependent on above) (results in error 1068: The dependency svc or gp failed to start)
Peer Networking Identity Manager service IS started
Unable to start PNRP Machine Name Publication Service (results in error 1068: The dependency svc or gp failed to start)
Deleted C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\appData\Roaming\PeerNetworking\idstore.sst (and idstore.sst.new)
Rebooted and still unable to start those services.
Verified IPv6 is enabled on the network adapter.
Ran sfc /scannow
It says it was unable to correct some files. Those files all seemed to do with sample pix, videos and sounds.
Ran an upgrade/repair
Ran sfc /scannow again and is now clean with no errors.
Now there is no homegroup but when I try and create a home group it says: "Windows cannot set up a homegroup on this computer"
Still cannot start those services
No idstore.sst in folder to delete
