Network issues Windows 7 to Vista

Both PCs have now been on Non stop for 10 days. My Win 7 PC already has been setup as you suggested. Cannot see how this can be done in Vista as they do not have a library system (Although apparently there is a Heath Robinson method of setting up a close approximation)

However I think that maybe we are getting beyond where my issue lies. I cannot access the Vista PC at all from my Win 7 machine, so it is not File Access but a PC access thing. I am shut out, the door is locked and bolted. The only way I can tell that there is a second PC on the Network is because it is listed in the Directory under Network (and of course the Network & Sharing Schematic).

This Network Password conundrum is the issue & I cannot get past it. Picture posted.

MIKE2-PC is the Vista second machine, as viewed in my Win 7 PC Explorer view.

When I click on that > Up pops the Network Password page. There are only two passwords and names that I use when applied to the PCs & Network. I have tried both, mixed & matched them & even tried empty entries > and all that happens is the Pop-up reappears with my last failed attempt at the top telling me to have another shot.

Just to reiterate > I have no difficulty in accessing the Win 7 PC from the Vista PC. I can also access the printer & the internet, without problems from both machines. The flaw is just PC access from the Primary Win 7 PC to the second Vista PC.

Yes > the User IDs which are the same on both machines & has been tried without success

Generally speaking when you keep getting a prompt to enter user name and password for no apparent reason the time/date settings are out of sync on those two machines.

I only see two machines and a printer in the Network list so I'm not sure where the "second" Vista machine is, seems like a third machine should be on the Network list.

There is not a third machine.

There is Mike-PC (The primary Win 7 PC)
and
Mike2-PC (The secondary Vista PC)

I have already read about the Clock Synch thing & tried First to synchronise the two PCs exactly. That did not work (Same problem). Secondly I tried another forum suggestion and set the Vista PC 1 hour behind the Win 7 PC. That did not work either.

Can you access the Public folders on the Vista machine?

The #2 PC can access just about everything on my #1 (Win 7) PC. There are also no internal access problems within the Vista PC > I am the administrator and there are no other Accounts. The Public folders are used all the time.

My #1 PC cannot access the #2 (Vista) machine at all. In short > I cannot access the Public folders on the Vista machine from the Win 7 machine. I keep getting the "Network Password" thing, which unable to get past. Besides the obvious PC Administrator Account Names/Passwords & the Network Name/password, I have tried every conceivable password that I use even close to the PCs, in every combination, including 'Blanks' etc.).
