I was going to just suggest that you try changing the channel in your router and then found this:

    Hi there,

Can you please give us a Xirrus Inspector tool snip coming from your wife's laptop? See the Tutorial here.

In addition, if your modem/rotuer or router has external antennas, you may replace them with higher dBi's
    Amazon.com: Super Power Supply® 3 x 9dBi 2.4GHz 5GHz Dual Band WiFi RP-SMA Antenna for Routers ASUS RT-N16 RT-N66U RT-AC66U RT-AC1750 D-Link DIR-655 DIR-665 Buffalo WZR-HP-G450H TP-Link TL-WR1043ND TL-WR2543ND TL-WDR4300 Omni Directional Network Exte

A few wireless extender/repeater have also high gain antenna.
