Cannot get a valid IP configuration with new Ethernet adapter
I have an HP p6616 desktop that came with a Realtek PCIe FE Family Ethernet adapter that cannot exceed a speed of 10 Mbps. After working with an HP customer support rep, he concluded that I had a bad set of chips. I purchased another Ethernet adapter, Realtek PCIe GBE Family, and I cannot get it to connect to the internet. Troubleshooting continually gives the “Invalid IP Configuration” message. I tried the new adapter on another Windows 7 computer and it worked beautifully. I have tried many of the suggestions on this forum, but nothing has solved the problem, it is still getting an IPv4 address of 169.254.x.x.
ipconfig /all is attached below. In this case, the new adapter with the invalid IP configuration is “Local Area Connection”, and the old adapter is “Local Area Connection 2”.
