    Cannot find Windows Mobility Centre

    Hello from a new Member.
Desktop User. Windows 7 Professional. Version 6.1.7601.

I am trying to turn on/off my wifi at will. My wifi is currently on as default but I rarely use it.
I have search different forums and even contacted Windows Help desk who did send me an email on how to open Windows Mobility Centre (which is where I believe wifi on/off option is located).

However I do not have the "Look in the lower right corner of the desktop for the Windows 7 power icon. Looks like a battery with an AC plug" that she mentioned in step 1 of her howto guide
Also I cannot find Windows Mobility Centre in my Search Facility.
    Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks
    R

Hello Rex, and welcome to Seven Forums.

By default, the Windows Mobility Center is only enabled on portable PCs like notebooks. The tutorial below can help show you how to enable Windows Mobility Center on a desktop PC though.

Windows Mobility Center - Enable on Desktop Computer

Once you have Windows Mobility Center enabled on your desktop computer, the shortcut below can make it easier to open.

    Hope this helps, :)

Go to your control panel, select Network and Internet, then select Network and Sharing Center, then from the left hand menu select change adapter settings. right click on your wireless adapter and select disable.

Thanks both for your quick replies..
1st of all johnsmith45jock I have just tried your method and at the last point I have the logo with 2 monitors in blue then to the right...Local Area Connection
    Network 3
    Nvidia nForce 10/100 Mbps ether

If I right click on that I get the options:

    Disable
    status
    Diagnose
    Bridge connections
    create shortcut
    rename
    properties.

I do not have the option of right clicking on my wireless adapter?

    Brink.
I have just followed your link and instructions and then pressed Windows and x and nothing happens...

Next I tried and pressed windows and r and indeed a run box came up with C:\Windows\System32\mblctr.exe in the dialogue box. When I press Ok, Yes a Windows Mobility Centre pops up. However only the following options appear..
    From left to right:
1.Mute. 2.Plugged in and not charging. 3.no display connected. 4.no sync partnerships.
5.Not presenting. - then the next 3 boxes are missing

Is this a desktop or laptop? If a desktop, how do you have WiFi?

Have you tried disabling WiFi in device manager?

Did you install any drivers for it?

If the wireless adapter is connected via USB, then you could just unplug it turn it off.

    Hellp Brink,
No Its not connected via USB.
My set up is that the cable comes in my house to a Hub/Router, then connected by ethernet to my PC.
I have tried to look everywhere on my system for anything to do with a wifi connection but cannot see it. I guess I will have to live with it. It 's no great problem just annoying that i can't see where to switch it off/on when I want!
