    wired lan and wireless card.

hey all, i have a wifi wireless card and a wired lan card and both are connected to 1 desktop.will it cause any problems if i leave the wired lan connected to my router and disable it in my bios and use the wireless card. the wired works fine but i am trying out a new wireless n card and didn't want to disconnect my wired lan card. also is wpa2-psk the best for security. new to the wifi setup. thanks. poorguy

I'll let others speak to the wpa2-psk question.

It won't hurt to leave both connected. You can disable via bios or via several other ways.
    Code:
netsh interface set interface name="Local Area Connection" disable
    (elevated cmd)
    change as needed

Wpa2 psk aes or tkip is the strongest form of wireless security out there right now. Aes is apparently just slightly more so.

But, this does not mean its completely secure. Nothing is.

Any experienced hacker that targets your network can get in easily. A average home user or small business usually are not targeted. Bigger businesses are. The wpa2 encryption can be hacked in about a hour or 2. All depending on the strength of the password for the connection, and how good the hacker is.
The longer the password, the stronger the encryption and the more time it take to crack it.

Passphrase passwords are all the rage now. You take a sentence with spaces and make it your password. Most websites are providing support for it. Trouble is, most routers (if not all) do not support this feature.

Wep takes about a couple of seconds to 3 minutes. WPA anywhere from 20min to 40min.
