Limited connectivity to network with no errors

I had updated my laptop then allowed it to restart to finish the updates it did the install restart thing 5 times then finally booted up then turned it off for the day. I booted the device up the next day and it said that the computer was not turned off properly and needed to scan for errors even though i turned it off properly, it sat saying it would scan for around 5 minutes and then proceeded to start windows without scanning. When windows launched I then received a 0x800742c error and my firewall would service would not start and to top it off the network is stating limited connectivity. Also when i used ipconfig before i noticed that my ip prefix is 169. Cottonball helped me fix the firewall issue which come to find out was due to a few registry errors, but the network issue is still present any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is a wireless connection issue

Modem is a ARRIS TG862 and the Router is a Belkin F9K11002V1

Antivirus is Microsoft Essentials and Windows Firewall

I ran the Xirrus program but didn't feel like searching for my prnt scrn location ill get it if it is needed it said failure to connect to DNS i assume due to my ip starting with 169 rather than 192

According to Msoft that error number "0x800742c means that the Windows firewall isn't working correctly and that the machine may be infected with malware. Most likely the network break down is due to problems that don't have anything to do with the actual network.

They show a list for trouble shooting this problem that you might want to go through. If there were registry problems then there could easily be more. I'm not so sure that all these problems were caused by Windows update.

It might also help to reset the Windows firewall to default settings.

as stated in my post the 0x800742c error has been resolved, the present issue at hand has to do with connecting to my network, there are no hardware or software issues according to the device manager.

What happens when you hardwire in the laptop? Is your IP the same prefix as 169 or 192? Are you able to get online with the hardwire?

It seems that your laptop is not even connected to your router as you don't have a default gateway.
If your able to get the proper IP address via hardwire, you may need to reset your IP settings for your wifi settings.
Also remove the wireless connection and setup the connection again to see if you get the right address.

I have tried releasing and resetting ip settings in cmd but it tells me unable to make changes due to not having access to ISP, and with a wired connection i have the same problem limited to no connectivity. I have also tried uninstalling network devices and turning the computer off then resetting router and then after rebooting laptop and still in the same boat. I have also tried to set my ip up manually but i believe i left a couple things out now that i read Slartybart's post. ill give that a try and let you guys know what happens. Although i have not tried to reset ip in cmd while having a wired connection dont know if it would have a different outcome or not, i suppose ill try that out as well.

What was the ip you got when you plugged it in hardwired?

Yes but since you are still having problems then it's advised to reset the Windows firewall to default settings.

When there are problems with Windows updates it's best to use the system restore feature to return to a previous state of operation before the problematic updates were installed.

It also sounds like your Belkin router requires a reset. :)

ok so far I have reset Windows Firewall to default settings and restarted computer with no change, and ran a wired connection and wireless ipconfig and on the ipconfig i received the same on both the wired connection is attached.

The ipconfig/all shows a bit more. Resetting the router might be a good idea at this point.

Usually just running the system file scan sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt, followed by resetting TCP/IP resetting winsock flushing the DNS and renewing the IP will fix these types of problems.

After completing the sfc scan and rebooting, Unzip and run the file below in order to reset the network stack.
