Extremely Slow WLAN Speed

In the image you posted you are getting about 42 megabytes per second which is about 20 times, not twice,the speed I am getting. Ok, what I need to see is the Windows based version of measuring bandwidth during a download.

I really can't make comparison's when you are using a different method for testing the bandwidth.

I'm also curious why you are showing a Guest network that is running on the same channels 11-1 along side your first network, both of these networks are using the same channels which is a problem.

Is this a guest network from your own router or is that a neighbor?

You should also remember that you can only move files as fast as the slowest connection, in this case it's the laptop with only 130Mbps, when you add in 50 percent signal strength then you end up with the connection speed at approx. 1/10 what my wired would get. Once again, pretty much what you are getting now.

The guest network is mine. It's a secondary SSID and isolated from the first so guests can't access my files. I've tested with and without the secondary SSID and it's made no difference.

As far as 50% signal strength, everything I've seen shows -50dbi being a very good signal? Thanks for all the help.

-50 isn't all that great but will work, in the respect that the better the signal the faster it can work.

I wouldn't have those overlapping signals in my network as this also reduces speed. You might look and see if you can change the channel on the Guest network.

If you are moving those files between the two wireless machines then the one with 130Mbps is holding back the potential quite a bit because the other one has twice the bandwidth. I believe with 130Mbps at -50 I wouldn't expect no more than 1/10 of what I was seeing with my standard 1Gb connection, which is only 4Mbps.

As for checking the speed in Windows, try going into the Task Manager then click on the network tab during a download.

Other than those things I'm seeing no real problems here at all.
