Possibly Norton, MBAM and/or the simple tcp/ip service.

Keep running without the router for some time to continue testing so you can be completely sure it is your issue.

After some time if it's still great, let me know and we can work on making your router well too.

I suspect this will work great. The wired connections on my router work great but Win7 does not play with my router (linksys WRT110) worth a darn. One of the support people on the Microsoft forums actually posted that Win7 does not work with "some routers".

That's a shame. Anyone recommend a wireless router with some wired ports that works well with windows 7? I was looking at a Linksys WRT54GL but it isn't on the compatible list

Me, I'm looking at the Netgear WNDR3700 - initial reviews are great but it may be more than you're looking for.

Gentlemen, Start Your Buying: NETGEAR WNDR3700 RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router Reviewed

Of course, that doesn't help me one bit when i try to connect to a wireless hotspot that doesn't have an "approved router".

IMHO, if Win 7 doesn't adhere to established wireless protocols that have been out there for years they should fix their issue rather than making an entire generation of routers obsolete.

I doubt the router is incompatible. Networking is networking, under any OS. It's your adapter that has issues for whatever reason.

Running latest firmware for the router is always good, problems or not. Besides, updating the firmware will also set to factory conditions. What you guys want to do.

Solution that fixed the issue for me: add the primary and secondary dns of your router in the properties of your ethernet card, and disable the IPv6.

Don't forget what I told everybody. The AutoTuningLevel of Windows Vista & up is not well managed by old linksys routers. So, yes, networking is networking, but features can be added that some equipment are not aware of.

If that's a concern, then you can disable autotuning. The router doesn't manage anything here. It's the other way around. Windows tunes to the conditions of the network.
