Can't edit network document

From remote pc ... did you logon to share as Abby? Or default as Guest?

richt click "my computer" (on computer that physically has the Abby files) and click "manage". Now click "Shared folders". Now you see: Shares, Sessions and Opened Files (I hope I translated correctly). Click on Sessions and you see who is connected. Is it user Guest? Or...... ?

I told you before it was the Abby share that had wrong permissions. But you never posted the share permissions.

For the folder Abby permissions: Why give Everyone full control??? It should be a private folder of user Abby! Default permission are: System: Full control, Administrators: Full Control, Abby: Full control. the Abby folder checks the box to include inheritable permissions=>don't enable that! Also propogate the permissions you set to underlying objects.

I modified all user groups associated with the Abby Share so that they inherited permissions from C:\Users without effect.
But I do seem to have solved the problem -

I right clicked on the Abby share, clicked on Properties and selected the Sharing tab --


I then selected Advanced Sharing, which brought me to the Advanced Sharing window --


From there, I selected Permissions, which brought me to the Permissions window --


There, I noticed that both Everyone and Administrators had read only capability, while the same user groups had full control under the Uses share.
I changed access to Full Control under the Abby share and was granted full access in all Abby share folders.

It's really impossible to know which adjustments have been made by a user beforehand.

The sharing tab adjustments for the C:Users\Username folder is standard procedure for sharing of the folders inside of the Users folder in Windows 7.

The shares are controlled from the C:\Users folder which is enabled for sharing by Default, but in Windows 7 you also need to allow for sharing via the C:Users\Username folder in order for the Users subfolders to be shared. This is why the lock appears on the Username folder in Windows 7 but not so with Windows 8.

In Windows 8 the subfolders are shared by default for this very reason "to make it easier", then you simply choose the "Share with" then "nobody" for each User folder that you don't want to share. I believe this is why you were confused because Win 8 and 7 are completely different in this respect.
