    Broadcasting DHCP every 65 seconds

I've got a Windows 7 system that is sending a UDP broadcast every 65 seconds:

    Code:
    Mar 13 12:23:24 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:24:29 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:25:34 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:26:38 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:27:43 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:28:49 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:29:53 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
    Mar 13 12:30:57 flamingo kernel[0] <Debug>: ipfw: 65534 Deny UDP 192.168.92.46:68 255.255.255.255:67 in via en0
Any idea why, or how to shut it up? This looks like it relates to DHCP, but as the system clearly already has an address...

Hi jnojr, my apologies that no one has answered your query sooner.

Have you figured out how to write the code for allowing Bonjour chat through your firewall yet?

The flamingo reference in your code box references to the Mac and UNIX environments. It would have been helpful if you mentioned that from the get-go instead of me finding it out during a search to help you: Allow Bonjour chat through firewall? - MacRumors Forums

I know some Mac programming can be run on a Windows based machine so, which is this? And, pardon my assumption; Are you trying to do that or is this problem on your Apple machine, if you have one?

I'm no network specialist, at first glance it doesn't look like a security problem but it is annoying. It looks like bonjour/flamingo is trying to use port 65534 but is denied forwarding to the UDP process and flamingo is trying to debug the reason for the denial every 65secs. It wants to either send or receive packets, but can't.

How to quiet it? I'm not sure, maybe you have another device or service that is already using port 65534. Do you really need bonjour? It is a known problem on 7 based machines.
    Maybe this is the answer:

    • ipfw may be outdated. When I checked on it, it said: This utility is DEPRECATED. Please use pfctl(8) instead.

    In answer to:
I'm trying to find what source/destination ports Bonjour chat uses.
from your MacRumors post; Well known TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products

This didn't help the original poster (OP), but you may want to check it: networking - How do I change the gateway of a specific connection using the Mac terminal? - Ask Different
