What's going on with me laptop? Can't connect to the Internet.

OK, I need serious help. I downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to my computer to completey make over my computer. What I ended up getting was not being able to connect to a network; my computer didn't even show that there were networks available.

So I went and downloaded the appropriate drivers for my computer; it's a Gateway, NV57H50u.

Yay! My computer starts to show all the wireless networks around me. I go to connect to my school's, type in my username and password AND ..... It says it can't connect to the network. So I troubleshoot it. AND ... Windows Troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem. I tried typing in my log in again ... Didn't work. Tried lowering my firewall protection ... didn't work.

    PLEASE HELP
And I know next to nothing about computer, so detailed instructions would probably be best for me. THANK YOU!

You got them from Drivers & Downloads and not any other driver updating software, right? If you did use a driver update software, you should do a complete clean install and install them the right way. Follow Manually Update Drivers in this tutorial from Microsoft: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly - Microsoft Windows Help If you did install the right way, try downloading all the Wireless LAN drivers for your laptop and uninstall the rest of the WLAN drivers once you get one that works.

Actually I got the driver from the Gateway website. Downloaded it, copied to my flash drive. Then ran it on my laptop.

Follow this tutorial to install the driver the right way:Driver Install - Device Manager
Don't do part 2 unless the same error message is shown.

    I tried

I've attached pictures of my screen. I've shown all the files I've installed. I'm still struggling to get through the password phase, and now I'm pretty sure I've downloaded all the WLAN drivers ...

Then when I tried to use the proper way to install everything it either said all the drivers were up to date or that it couldn't find the right driver update (this was only with the things I was able to see, the Ethernet option under device manager was not actually visible).
