We are going to need a ton of info before we can be of any good

what version of win 7 (7600)?
    32 bit or 64?

Can you go to search and type cmd>ipconfig /all. use the built in snipping tool (typw snip in search) and take screen shots of the output from ipconfig. Then upload to us to be checked out

    Thanks in advance

Many thanks for such a quick reply, but I have solved this issue with a simple reboot of the laptop and router and voila all set up and sharing now. Just another question though.
I have enabled sharing of c drive on both computers but I cannot see them ?

Try right clicking "Computer".. choose "Manage".. and look under "Shared Folders" -> "Shares" ignore any of the default shares "C$" "D$" etc.. you can actually setup shares through that by right clicking on a space and choosing new share.. try testing that out and see if it helps. i've been having issues trying to setup shares any other way but this seems to work

You won't see a root share like that. You can browse to the drive if you use C$, like this:

    \\computer\c$

Sorry but do not fully understand what you mean, could you explain in a bit more detail how I can do this.

    Cheers
