wmplayer.exe and wmpnetwk.exe showing high network usage

    Hi,
I have a situation where my network usage has tripled over the past two months.
Using Resource Monitor, I have isolated two tasks that appear to be taking up a large portion of the bandwidth - wmplayer.exe and wmpnetwk.exe. It is my understanding that they are associated with Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center respectively.
So far, the only action I have taken was to remove all libraries from Windows Media Player, which I did based on a hit on the problem which I found online.
But this has had no real effect and I would appreciate any help in this matter.
    I am running Windows 7 SP 1.
    Thanks,

I never used the Windows Media Center. But I did notice that on Vista and later if I allowed WMP to share media files on the Lan it would constantly scan my HD looking for media files to add.

I always disable sharing of media files when configuring my network. It tends to cut out the churning.
