I'm wondering how accurate speedtest.net is. I'm paying Cox for 50Mbps upload and, according to Cox, that's all I'm getting. However, when I try other speed tests, I average 60Mbps with some and over 100Mbps with others and speedtest.net shows an average of 120Mbps. What the heck?

    Btw, I'm not using WiFi.

    Morning LF,

I also have Cox and paying for the same speed as you. FWIW, shown below are the results I get at speedtest.net, and speedof.me sites.

At the speedof.me website: 71 mbps download, 11.68 mbps upload. (This site only uses a single location for testing, however (i.e., Ashburn, VA)).

At speedtest.net: just over 61 mbps download, just over 11 mbps upload.

    Cheers!

Try Speakeasy, a few others, then average the bunch? Vz also has one at their site, probably Cox does too.

Not Wifi here either because my 3 computers are 10 feet apart. I called Verizon last month about an unrelated matter, and by the time the techie finished, my speed had doubled. First techie I've ever met at Vz who was beyond competent. I asked her over for a glass of champagne, but she was in Oregon.

    I enjoy/pay($94.95/month) for a nice 250Mbps download speed and a measly 10Mbps upload speed,

    but Speedtest.net shows currently

    Ping 12 ms
    Download 301.69 Mbps
    Upload 12.07 Mbps

This just nuts! I tried almost a dozen different speed test sits and the results can be lumped into two groups: 60-70 Mbps and 110-120 Mbps. Something is cuckoo in Copenhagen (or there are a bunch of liars out there)!

    100 DOWN , 84 UP $30 NYC area,

Verizon forgot to give me a contract, and my price never goes up.

    (are people still using RAID?)

Oh yeah, there are a lot of people still using RAID and will swear up and down that it's the best way to "backup" data.
