It's not MB but mbps. This is worse than dialup. What site are you using for your test?

Actually, it's Mbps (Megabits-per-second). MB is MegaBytes. The M is always upper case. The B is upper case for bytes and lower case for bits.

Right, and I sit corrected, 5mbps is about DSL speed. Is it a rural area, @Cast?

This is on a slow day. Usually my speeds are in the ±800Mbps range, up and down. Browser speeds are much lower, in the 200's.

Gotta ask, what do you pay for those speeds? Mine's cable rated at 150, usually speed test at about 140. $55/mo. Also, how do you determine "browser speeds?

I just got 1Gbps fiber installed in late May, and I'm paying $69.95 a month.

First month free, $10 discount for having a sign on my front lawn for the second month. WiFi router is free, as was installation.

ISP is my municipal (city-owned) gas and electric utility company.

When I use the Speedtest.com website in Firefox, my speeds are in the 200Mbps range. That and the above separate Speedtest app are accurate because I open up Task Manager, and multiply the "bytes received per interval" (= one second) times 8 to get megabits per second.

    WoW only $69.95?
I pay Comcast in NH $94.95 for 250Mbps download speeds and only get 10Mbps upload speeds...

If you consider that I was paying Verizon for DSL service of 3Mbps down and 768kbps up for $47.99 a month, it was a no-brainer to jump on this.
