    Cannot connect to my domain

    hello,

i have 8 laptops all running windows 7 ultimate and 1 pc with windows server 2008 r2. i created a domain and sorted the dns server and went to connect my laptops to them. when i typed the domain name in it asked for a username and password so i typed my username and password of the administrator account (admin account was activated) and it said ' cannot connect to domain'

can anybody help me i can't think of what is wrong. (images would really help.)

    Thanks

I believe the easy way would be to first install Active Directory to the server if it's not already installed.

The link shows you how to do this from the client PC but I believe Active Directory needs to be installed for this to work. The video makes it look easy so hopefully it will work for you. :)

The lack of useful information here is unfathomable. That single sentence certainly isn't helping me.

Suggest you read up on how to operate a Windows server, this isn't something I can sum up in a paragraph when there is no useful information to go on.

    Hi from Sevenforums,

You should put your DNS servers in the forwarders.

Solve all domain and DNS Problems first.

Have domain name on each of your laptops.

The problem here is that the Op hasn't invested a single minute of time learning how to set this up correctly in the first place and I'm pretty sure that a ten year old tutorial that shows how to join an XP machine to an ancient Windows server isn't going to help.

The correct method for joining a Windows 7 machine to Windows server 08 is accurately displayed in the video link which I have already posted a link to and which was also flatly ignored, instead I received a response that made absolutely no sense at all.

Yes and I posted a precise and accurate response to the Op's problem complete with a step by step video presentation, it's too bad the Op's lack of any useful response prohibited me or anyone else from fixing the problem.

Maybe you can explain to the Op why you posted a ten year old tutorial showing how to add an XP machine to windows server 03? The Op already said he sorted out the DNS.

Windows 7 version here though I don't think it will help in the Op's case.
