    Internet connection issues

    Hello whoever is reading this,

For quite some time now, my computer has had a problem with connecting to the internet. Often my internet will just stop working for a bit, only to return after several minutes to several hours. It is highly irregular; sometimes there's no problem for a few weeks and sometimes it persists several days. I know for certain that the issue lies with my pc, as other devices in the same room as it work fine. When the internet stops working, the connection bars sometimes look just fine (as if there IS a connection), and sometimes it looks like there is no connection. I have tried to use an external signal-receiver (sorry, I have no idea what else to call it) but that didn't help either. I have also had my virusscanner go over it, and it got me nothing.

Would anyone happen to know what my problem is, and how I can solve it? I run Windows 7 Ultimate X32.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

The first thing I usually suggest is to use a cable to connect to your router and see if there's a difference in how the PC reacts.

Then, try these steps ---> How to Flush and Reset the DNS Resolver Cache in Windows

Okay, so I have bad news. When I read the previous comment, I instantly attempted flushing and resetting the DNS. This seemed to work for me, but since the issue occurs irregularly I decided to wait for a few days before thinking it was over. And, unfortunately, tonight my internet stopped again. So the DNS solution does not work. Though I would love to use a cable to connect my pc to a router, fact is my pc is in my room while the router is downstairs. My parents refuse to pull a cable upstairs from there and I can't really blame them, so that option is out the window too, unfortunately.

So, is there anything else I could potentially do?
