Internet stops when downloading via WiFi

    Hello guys.
I have got a problem a couple of months with my internet connection.
My modem router is a Netgear DGN1000 and it is connected with my desktop pc through ethernet and with my brother's laptop with wireless.
I do not have any problems when i download something from my desktop.
But when my brother wants to download something big (mostly Torrents) from his laptop, after 5 to 15 minutes of downloading the connection stops in both of our computers.
The strange thing is that the network and internet LEDs on the router are still on and seems like it is working properly.
Is it a network problem? A router problem? A homegroup problem?
Please help me, that was is happening is very annoying and i have to restart the router everytime my brother wants to download something. (we can not connect it with ethernet because of distance of the router).
This problem occured suddenly after a router restart.

    Thank you in advance.

Torrents are a very Big No No.

They cause all kinds of problems, and 99% of the content downloaded from them are illegal and filled to the brim with malware.

Sometimes your internet service provider will halt or throttle your connection when using torrents.

    Simple: Do not use torrents.

I know what you mean and thank you for your reply.
But it also happens when they download something big, like the Nvidia drivers from the Nvidia site.
Also i do not have a problem when i download anything from my ethernet connected PC.
The problem occurs only from the wifi connected devices when they download, and then the internet bugs everytime.
    Any other suggestions???
