    what is wifi direct?

I have read around but am still not quite sure what it is.

If a TV have built in wifi but no browser and have wifi direct.

Does that mean that if turn on it can connect to all the rest of the device with wifi without having need to enter password?

Will all information be possible to be exchange?

As I have said before I have read around but there are some conflicting information that confused me. One of them is the following one.

Some say that you only need 1 device with wifi direct to link up the rest of the device whereas another said that all the device need to have wifi direct to link up.

So which is the correct one?

I would imagine they must all have it, as looking at the wikipedia article, the point is that you don't need an access point.

If it doesn't support wifi direct, it needs an access point, ergo making the whole thing useless.

The Wi-Fi Direct devices negotiate when they first connect to determine which device shall act as an access point.
I don't see how they can negotiate, if it doesn't realise it's supposed to (ie without wifi direct)

If so then wouldn't the opposite be true too?

The one with wifi direct detected that other devices do not have wifi direct and decided to act as an access point?
