Just a note,
If you statically set the duplex and speed you will need to use the correct network cable as the Auto-MDIX is completed via the auto-negotiation of speed and duplex.
Typically I like to use two categories of devices:
Category A:
Computer, Router, Server
Category B:
Switch, Hub, Bridge, Wireless AP
If you are connected 2 devices that belong into the same category you will need a crossover cable (E.g Switch to Switch or Computer to Computer).
If however you are connected devices from two different categories then you can use a straight cable (E.g Computer to Switch or Router to Hub).
Note that a router refers to a native router and not one of those combo boxes that you are given by your ISP. Those devices typically only have switch ports available and should be considered a switch when choosing which cable.
Always good to know when you should use which cable and not rely on auto detection technologies which could fail.
