    Network Adapter Missing

Hello all, I can't detect internet on my laptop. When I go to the bottom right internet icon, there is a red x through the icon. After some browsing through the internet, I've found that what helps some people is going to computer-> manage -> network adapter and deleting the adapter. For me the Network Adapter isn't even there, and under the tab "Other devices", the terms "Ethernet Controller", "Network Controller", "PCI simple communications controller", "SM Bus Controller", "Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller", and "USB2.0-CRW" all have a yellow sign with an exclamation symbol on them. I know this isn't a problem with my wifi, as it works fine with my other laptops.

    Thank You

The model number of my laptop is Inspiron 15, I couldn't do the system specs stuff, because it said my laptop didn't have .NET framework. When I tried to install .NET framework through a USB drive, it said it needed internet to install. Thank you

Hi there. If you know the brand and model of your laptop, do go to the manufacturer's website and search for the latest network driver. Install it and it should work well.

If you are unsure what/where/how to download, you can reply with your brand, model and service tag and I can help you search for it.

I should imagine, as Maxie says above, the laptop is a Dell. All the necessary drivers are on the Dell support pages. Unfortunately you will need the exact model number because there are a lot of "Inspiron 15" models listed there. Check underneath the laptop and see if it says something like Inspiron 15 (N5030) or Inspiron 15 3531. Make a note of it, go to the Dell website and download the appropriate drivers.

Hello guys, it seems that my Laptop's exact model is Inspiron 15 3521, if you could help me point to what to download by that it would be great, as I by myself have already tried to use the Dell website, and it didn't turn out so great.

    The hardware ID is

    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_05971028&REV_05
    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_05971028
    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&CC_020000
    PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&CC_0200

Under Device status in the "General" tab under Ethernet Controller Properties it says:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

    Thank You

It will be more accurate if you could provide the service tag as well. Each dell computer has a service tag and when you enter this service tag number on the dell website, it can point to a more specified driver that is exactly what your laptop needs.

At this point in time I wouldnt want to anyhow recommend a driver that I have found with the info you provided.

How to find the service tag on a Dell notebook computer.

The Dell service tag is a seven character identifier that is unique to your product. In addition to the service tag, there is an Express Service Code which is a 10-digit numeric version of the service tag which can be typed into a telephone for call routing. While most Dell products have a service tag, some accessories and peripherals do not. As a general rule, desktop and notebook computers, servers and storage devices, printers, and mobile devices (such as phones or tablets) will have a service tag.

Notebook computer systems include these model names: Latitude, Inspiron, XPS, Precision, Vostro, and Alienware.

The service tag label will be found on the bottom of the notebook computer.
