Help me not to get sucked in to the internet on my first year in uni!

    Hello everyone!

I'm about to start my first year in university, music composition.

    - I have a terrible tendency to get sucked into that information black hole called the internet.
    - My self-discipline isn't very great in that regard, so "grow up some discipline!" doesn't help. Building this skill takes time, and my generation has a pretty awful starting point compared to older people.
    - When I don't have any access to the internet, I tend to work wonderfully.
    - It tends to work best when I'm actually in some remote village, writing music, and not by shutting off my router.

What creative solution can you guys think of?
I'm thinking of maybe making me go through a pretty annoying process every time I want to connect. Say, retrieve a password that's randomized on a daily basis, and the password actually comes back only after a few hours of asking for it. My procrastination skills will prevent me from doing that unless I really need to.

    How can I do that?

Not sure if you mean limit the router or your computer. For the computer you have the Windows function Parental Control with time limits when you can use the computer. Some antivirus products have their own Parental Control features where you can limit internet access for max hours per day + time limits.

But for this to work in your case you need to use a standard user account and let a trusted friend alone set the password for your administrator account, so you can't get around it.

I think there's similar solutions for routers.

Not the best solution perhaps, but I'm sure you'll get more advice too!

I'd think some of the pages will have a useful solution:
