I'm also having problems... my external 1TB drive shared perfectly on vista to my xbox 360... i had to allow it thru vista, and also share the drive/folders for it to see the F drive under videos, under my computer name. After reformatting to Win 7 Pro... i cannot get it to work... Xbox sees the PC but only has two shared folders...

I share my drive and it won't show up under my computer. Also, If i try to change permissions/actions it says Access Denied on my drive.

    Suggestions?

    Problem SOLVED!

    Here is what I did.

In the properties page of the DRIVE I went to security, advanced, change permissions, check off Replace all Child object Permissions with inheritable permissions from this object, also within edit for Everyone group, check off Apply these permissions to objects and /or containers within this container only (this is necessary since I get an access denied for changing the entire drives permissions, at first)

After applying both these settings I was able to delete the mysterious MSI.tmp folders that appeared on my drive after plugging it into Win 7, and I was also able to share the F Drive so that it would appear under my computer in the Xbox 360 video library, and I can now access all my videos and play them, once again.

I hope this helps someone as I was really frustrated that streaming videos from my 1TB external stopped working, and that I couldn't get sharing to work properly. And also there seems to be no info on the net yet about how to fix this. Maybe my solution will work for others with similar sharing problems.

To recap, make sure you have all the Win 7 sharing settings activated (might have to adjust security bit-key to lower), in drive properties go to advanced share settings and check off to share the drive, and make sure you have proper permissions to the drive under security.

I don't use windows medica center... I stream to Video Library-Computer-External Drive on the Xbox... in network grant share access and permissions to Xbox, so it will show up on the Video Library page... then in My Computer on Win 7, right click properties on your drive you want to share, and follow the steps I have above if your having problems sharing because of permissions (one of the main reasons it won't show up on the xbox if your connection to pc already works is your drive permissions which need to be changed to full control).
