Not connecting to the network, sometimes

About perhaps twice a week when I wake my computer from hibernation (and sometimes sleep) I find that I just have no network access. I have no idea why. I have to reboot my computer for the network to start working properly.
When I look at the notification icons, the one for the network just shows a spinning circle over it.

It's connected via network cable. It started about the time we got a new router, but only my computer is effected.

I don't know what to check. Please advise.

Hello and welcome Marscaleb mate some system specs would be very handy especially what board you have we cannot help if we do not know just about everything in the machine.

I ask because I suspect it might be the driver for the Ethernet and if I don't know (therefore anyone else) where to find it.
As a purely personal thing I don't keep my machines running 24/7 I prefer to boot fresh each time I go to use it. So as you are having to reboot the machine each time is it worth the small amount of time to boot by having it hibernate or sleep??
If you are worried about the boot time take a look at this
