Apparently it required an IE reset and deleting some add-ons in that case.

hey I found something else that wanted me to run some commands in the cmd prompt, and apparently my os was missing some files, so i just reinstalled windows, which solved the problem. Windows must not have installed properly the first time. I am going to mark this file as solved, and thanks so much for your help :) it was much appreciated!

well technically I upgraded windows 7 to windows 7, in that managing to keep all my files and settings intact. It was some dlls that were not there, which pushed me to realize it was a windows problem. But thanks anyway!
