Trying to disconnect from the net / don't know how?

As you can see in the screenshot, my network is not showing and i want it to , i want to be able to disconnect from the net sometimes instead of shutting down my modem.

Is there a way to do this , i only connect through ethernet.

    Thank you

What about on your firewall too. I hqve Comodo firewall & it has a little red button STOP ALL NETWORK ACTIVITY.it disconnects me from the internet, the button goes green and then it says RESTORE NETWORK ACTIVITY, I have only used a couple of firewalls i like the Comodo one it gives me the control i like. But i would think most could do the same. I use Ethernet too.

Thanks guys , was hoping there was a way to show connections and just click disconnect , this can be done with wireless but not ethernet , dummy me.

It just came to me that why not just pop out the ethernet cable , seems simple enough.

    Thanks again
