Ok so some progress.

I entered the command netsh wlan show filter
and then the command
netsh wlan set blockednetworks display=show
And now I find that I can see wifi networks although they are all prevented from connection due to the following error
"Your network administrator has blocked you from connecting to this network"
That could be a hardware problem. I would try a WiFi USB dongle. I had the same problem on a laptop and the dongle fixed it.
Ok so not much of an update but here is where I am at.
I have been able to have the wifi show networks in my area including my own,
I am able to connect to my network.
However......
I have limited access and cannot access the internet. I have a yellow exclamation against the wifi icon.
Looking at some of the troubleshooting details it doesn't appear that I am getting an IP address.
Any thoughts?
Yes wired not working now either.... (sent via Linux)
Its now the same for the wired as it is for the wireless, limited access and no Internet access.
