Within Windows Media Player on your laptop, go to Organize->Manage Libraries->Videos and ensure that the folders that have your videos are there. After that, go to Organize->Apply media information changes. That should update the media player's library and then when you connect via AnDLNA you might be able to see your videos listed.

Other than that, I'm stumped as to why you can't list the videos, especially when you say you can plug the external drive into another laptop and see the files on your phone.

    Thanks a lot,

I would like you to kindly take some of your precious time out to go through my points below, and reply to me to close this thread and mark it as an answered.

First: although what you have suggested above I have applied before, and made no difference, I have applied it again and everything is working well. However, I don't know what might be causing the error, though. I really have done these things before applying what you suggested again.

    (A) The 'users' folder containing all user accounts was shared on the network file and folder sharing. I have made it not shared.
    (B) in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings, The network discovery was ON, and then turned it OFF.

    (C)
The application 'Samsung Kies', which is used to manage files between my Android Samsung mobile plugged in to my Windows HP laptop. It was shown in the network under other devices

I have disabled it from startup program, and then got not listed under other devices.

Second:: After that, I have apply what you have suggested again, and everything is working well.
However, I am only surprised when I was including folder before doing the steps listed before, I was promoted if I want to share or not share this folder' However, after doing the steps listed above, I am no longer seeing if I want to share or not share this folder' when I include it (I think that I was promoted as to if I want to share or not share a folder included since 'User' folder was shared in its properties on the network file and folder sharing)

Third: I am now only still having a problem with nonsupporting files in WLM on my laptop,
FLV formats(and others) are not supported by my WMP, thus WMP couldn't play the FLV formats, thus all the file formats weren't listed in the WMP, although the folder containing them was included well. As a result, they were not shown(listed) inside the AnDLAN client as well.

How to solved the above problem, I think the WLM server is only the one used on my laptop, then I think the the only solution is to convert those files into AVI or MP3 or others which can be played with WLM. But, I really converted some FLV files into MP4 by QQ player, and then there were working well with my WMP, but not working well in the AnDLNA client on my Android mobile. Another thing is converting far too many FLV file formats with a size of 512MB will take a long time files.

    Finally:
While my internet subscription was out of credit(no internet access), I have tried connecting both my devices 'Android mobile phone' and 'Wireless laptop' to the same wireless router, then I tried playing videos on the AnDLNA client on my Android mobile, and I found them playing well, which means running videos via setting up the streaming media will not be calculated from my Internet credit.

However, in that article (How to Stream Digital Media From Your Windows 7 PC), I have seen 'Internet access is also necessary for sharing across the Web to another PC.', although I found that internet access was not necessary.

I'm lost as to what you're asking on most of your post. The only thing I can address is why WMP can't play files with certain extensions. The reason for that is because it lacks the codecs to play those files. You might try downloading and installing the K-Lite codec pack: Codec Guide: K-Lite Codec Pack - For XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8

    Thanks a lot,

Yes, my problem is now only with that WMP cannot play files with certain extensions. Do you think that updating or upgrading it into another version will solve the problem??? I really have another QQ player program, and run any file extensions, however, it cannot be a DLNA server like WMP.

My WMP don't have any K-Lite Codec Pack???
Isn't 'K-lite' 'Media Player Classic(k-lite)'? If yes, then what will this do with WMP?

Also, I had to post this screen shot to let you know that I have found many downloads there, and i have marked the first one.

The first and second point in my previous post posted 4 days ago are about the guessing what solved that error was preventing me from showing the files on AnDLN client player.

    Finally:
I meant that the internet access is not necessary to play the files on the AnDLNA client on the Android device. However, in that article (How to Stream Digital Media From Your Windows 7 PC), I have seen 'Internet access is also necessary for sharing across the Web to another PC.', although I found that internet access was not necessary.

K-Lite is a set of codecs that, when downloaded and installed, will allow WMP to play many of the video files that it can't with it's included codecs. Many will recommend the VLC video player as it comes with codecs to play almost any video file. Media Player Classic is just another video player that can be used instead of WMP.

As far as I know, there should be no requirement for internet acess in order to share video files across a network.

Thanks a lot, to close this issue, and mark it as answered, I would like you to confirm for me if I only need to download the first set of codecs of K-Lite as shown in my screen shot, since there are other downloads related to 'K-Lite codes in that page.

    Strollin,
The problem is resolved, but to be perfectly resolved, I would like you to kindly let me know if I can install any K-Lite codecs on MX player since it also doesn't play FLV video file formats on my Android device.
I am no longer receiving a problem with playing FLV on WMP after installing K-Lite codecs on it on my Windows Media player.
