    Auto-remap Windows shares?

I backup teacher laptops to a Windows server share. Unfortunately, when they go home still logged in and come back the next day, the share isn't automatically remapped, so backups fail. Is there any way to make shares automatically remap when they are in range of our wireless net? Thanks. If not, I guess we need to pay for something like CrashPlan (which I love, but we're on a limited budget).

    Welcome to Seven Forums!

What type of Windows Server O/S do you have? Are the files saved in the Teacher's laptop and not in the server? Do you have a file server?

    Re: Auto-remap Windows shares?

It's a Windows Server 2012 R2. I'm backing up teachers' local files on their laptops (C:\Users\x, where "x" is their username) to a subfolder of their home directory on the server (U:\#backups, where U: is mapped as \\s1\users\staff\x). The laptops run Win 7 Pro.

I could swear this used to work. It does when I set it up, but now I find U: not mapped later. I'm using FreeFileSync (and Task Scheduler); I like it, but if there's a better way...

I'd suggest a Folder Redirection, this is a lot better than roaming profile.
