Windows 7 Can only access/ping a few websites since this morning
So all day I have been dealing with very, very slow internet speeds. I am not at all sure why this is happening but it's just been awful. Speedtest tells me about 0.1-1.5 mb/s and some websites just cannot load at all. Sometimes I can load a page if I give it a VERY long time, a few minutes, but it still says request timed out when I ping these websites. (I am running Windows 7 Ultimate). The strange thing is, I can still access Google and a few other websites like youtube, facebook, wikipedia etc... Youtube loads HD videos fast
So basically what led to this happening was me trying to fix a problem I was having with a game that was not making any sound. I followed the instructions given to me by an EA live support person, as given below:
I only did steps 1, 2, 3 and the Geforce update. During the Geforce update I realised that I was getting extremely slow speeds(when normally I have fibre optic and get 30mb/s), and then this whole thing started to happen.I would suggest you to perform the following workaround on your system in order to fix this issue that you are experiencing:
1. Disable antivirus and firewall temporarily.
2. Clean registry, clear cache and temp files by following the steps in the link below:
http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-use...pc-issues/
3 . Reset Internet Explorer settings by following the steps in the link below:
How to reset Internet Explorer settings
4 . Restart the system, After that Download and install the game by logging into the origin client from my games section on your system. The game will be installed with the latest updates.
5. Select different install folder for the game.

9. Disable Origin Overlay by following the steps below:
Disable the Origin in-game overlay (IGO). To do this, launch the Origin client. Then go to the Origin menu, Application Settings, Origin In Game, and then uncheck "Enable Origin In Game."
10. Run the Game as administrator by following the steps below:
Right click on your game's desktop shortcut.
Select 'Properties'.
Click on the 'Compatibility' tab and check the box at the bottom under 'Privilege Level' where it says 'Run this Program as an administrator'.
Click Apply and OK.

11. Set up a graphics card gaming profile.
To setup a gaming profile for NVIDIA cards:
Make sure you've downloaded the latest drivers for your card and the NVIDIA Control Panel.
Right-click any free area of your desktop and select “NVIDIA Control Panel.”
Under the "3D Settings" group on the left-hand side of the NVIDIA Control Panel, click “Manage 3D Settings.”
Open the Program Settings tab in the Manage 3D Settings menu and click the Add button.
Browse to the .exe of the game you'd like to make a profile for.
For example, with FIFA 14 you'd select "fifa14.exe" within C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\FIFA 14\Game.
Click Add Selected Program, then find Power management mode in the drop down menu and set it to Prefer maximum performance.
Your gaming profile is now set-up!
12. Disable User Account Control by following the steps below:
Navigate to the desktop.
Hold down the Windows key and press R. (This will open the Run dialogue.)
Type msconfig and press Enter.
In System Configuration, select the Tools tab.
Select Change UAC Settings and click the Launch button.
Pull the level to the down position Never Notify and click the OK button.
Restart when prompted.

13. Create a new admin account by following the steps below: Creating a new administrator account is a useful step if you're experiencing issues launching or installing games, or if your games crash or freeze during play.
A new administrator account creates a new copy of the registry, making registry troubleshooting steps such as registry "cleaning" and manual uninstallation unnecessary.
Navigate to the Control Panel.
Select "User Accounts".
Select "Manage User Accounts".
Be advised: Non-administrators will need to provide admin credentials here.
Click the "Add" button.
Enter a name for the account and click the "Next" button.
Select "Administrator".
Click the "Finish" button.
14. Clean Boot the system by following the steps below:
Navigate to the desktop.
Hold down the Windows key and press R. (This will open the Run dialogue.)
Type msconfig and press Enter.
In System Configuration, select the Services tab.
Check the Hide all Microsoft Services box and click the Disable all button.
Select the Startup tab.
Click the Disable All button, then click the Apply button.
Restart when prompted.
I also was having problems with a VPN I had installed because I saw no obvious way to disconnect from it, so I just uninstalled it(it was safe- not malware).
I also can tell you that the network that I am connected to was always labelled as Network 6, and as a home network, and at some point today that changed to Network 7 and it was no longer set as my home network. Could something have happened?
Finally - a router is connected by an ethernet cable to the same wired internet and provides a WiFi connection to a laptop that still receives 20mb/s - so it is a problem with my computer.
Sorry if all of this is difficult to understand, I really need help with this, so if anybody knows what I can do please let me know.
If you need me to clarify something, or tell you something I haven't provided in the thread, go ahead and ask.
I have attached an ipconfig /all .txt
