Wireless adapter problems in new PC build

    Ok,
I went and built my own computer the other day and got a wireless adapter form some friends. I put it in my pci slot and installed windows. When I booted into windows for the first time, I got a message saying that there are no connections avalible. I put in the driver disk thinking that the disk could be the solution but, after install I continue to have the same problem. When I go to change adapter settings, My adapter is there but has a red X by it. Any help would be apprciated.

Go to Device Manager, expand "network adapters" or "other devices" and right-click on the device which has the yellow exclamation mark on it, indicating missing drivers.

Select Properties, then "details" tab, then click on the "Property" dropdown list item and select the second item in the list: Hardware Ids.

Take a screenshot of the Hardware IDs and post here.
