Running a webcam off a xp sp3 server using shared files
Hi, i have both machines set up, my win7 (main) and my winxp (server). I use the xp to store files and to be able to use older accessories that no longer work on win7.
Such as i have a logitech webcam in which works great on xp but logitech stopped supporting the software updates for the cam after xp so the cam will not work on win7.
So my idea is to put the cam icon in the shared files and execute the cam on the xp machine via me clicking the shared icon. This way the cam will work just as if it was on my new machine (win7) but its actually running on the xp machine.
The problem is when i click the icon in the shared it tells me that the location does not exist, and i understand why, because it thinks that i want to execute it on my new machine C rather than the xp C drive.
So all i need to do is change the properties for the shared icon to read the network address rather than the logical address, i think thats right..
My drive location for the xp is SERVER1-PAVDTPC
The properties for the icon in shareddocs is:
Target: "C:\Program Files\Logitech\Video\Launcher.exe"
Start in: "C:\Program Files\Logitech\Video"
so i forget the syntax here. Is it something like
Target: \\ "SERVER1-PAVDTPC \Program Files\Logitech\Video\Launcher.exe"
something like that?
