Good idea. I have Microsofts own firewalls on both WIN7 and WHS. I turned both off, file transfer worked! Then I turned WIN7 Firewall back on, still works. Then I turned WHS firewall on and... it works. what the f...

Ok, I tested this few times and now I know where the problem is. It is the WHS windows firewall...

But, any ideas how to actually fix this?
I have checked the "File and Printer Sharing" in firewall exceptions.

Should I install some other firewall and disable windows firewall or.. what?

Have you ever monkeyed around with the WHS firewall? I only ask because I've been using WHS ever since it was made available, and I've never altered any of the default security settings - and if changes have been made, it may explain this problem you are having. AFAIK, you should never have to touch security/firewall settings in WHS.

Nope, havent played with it at all. I did find some tips how to "restore firewall to default" that I should definately try...

I'll let you know if anything happens. More ideas meanwhile?

I tried setting WHS firewall to default and then I enabled File and Printer Sharing, RDP and UPnP Framework. Then the same problem came back =/

I'll try from wegotserved. I'll tell you if there comes an answer.

Why did you enable file and printer sharing? Everything needed for the server to operate is done automatically, so you should not have to do anything at all for things to work correctly. Do you have a printer attached to the server?

Well I defaulted my firewall settings in WHS, I think that is the reason I had to enable file and printer sharing, cause it was not enabled. Nope, I dont have a printer.

When I get home I'll check my WHS settings and let you know if file and printer sharing is enabled by default.

Do you by any chance have an Atheros L1 network chip in your WHS client computer? Im am having identical problems and anecdotal evidence here and elsewhere is indicating this as the problem. The only solution seems to be a new network card but they are dirt cheap.
