    Creating a hotspot

I happened to come across this thread -

I want to share the internet connection from PC to a wireless router

The person who recommended it, doesn't seem to want to respond to my question. (Post 7)

I thought this would be able to create a hotspot and be able to allow me to use my laptop away from home by connecting to my home pc router.

    Thanks,

    Paul

I think you misunderstand what the program can do. The PC where this program is installed must have an internet connection in the first place - e.g. a desktop hardwired to a modem. Then the program can simulate a router capability.

But if you are away from your internet connection somewhere in the forest, it will do nothing.

I've got my PC connected to my modem/router and it already recognizes my laptop by the wireless connection.

So I guess this program is only to convert a modem without a router?

    Thanks for your help.

It seemed too good to be true.

I guess what confused me is that the program said you would be able to use your cell phone to connect to the Internet.

Since cell phones already have Internet, what's the need for this?

Still don't understand the need for Internet sharing with your PC in your home. - why not just use your PC or laptop for that?

If they don't have Internet in their home, creating a hotspot won't help.
