Win7 Home Premium: Sharing a printer

I'm trying to help an elderly neighbour share his printer with his wife's Android tablet.
I fell at the first hurdle; I can see the (USB attached) printer in Devices and Printers but can't work out how to share it. It seems like a case of "You can't get there from here".

Does Windows 7 Home Premium give Stan the choice of sharing his printer?

    Sir,

You need to install an app for the tablet to be able to print from a shared printer.
It is one of the basic function of a computer that tablets cannot do.

Here's a link that may help you: How to Access a Printer From an Android Tablet | Chron.com

Like Shottas said, you need an app for using the printer from the tablet.

To share a printer on the network, open Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right click on the printer, select Printer Properties (not Properties), select Sharing tab and then check the sharing box.

I suspect I had been looking at "Properties", rather than "Printer Properties". I'll schedule another visit with Stan...
