    Unidentified Network

Hello all. I have two network cards in my PC. A wireless and an ethernet card. The wireless connection is identified as a public network and I can change it.

My ethernet card is connected to another PC and I've got the two of them connected directly to each other...no routers or anything. I am unable to change the network type and it is stuck on Public Network. Is there anyway to fix this?

    Thanks for the help.

You mean you can't change the public network due to it being greyed out?

Is your wireless network at home or at work? At my work place we have many wireless network all set up for many reasons, if it's a work network do you have more info on it?

I cannot change it because it is greyed out.

    It's a home network.

The wireless portion works fine and I can change the network type at will.

The wired ethernet network type is greyed out and I'd like to set it to Home instead of public.

Go to Network and Sharing Center, click Change adapter setting (left pane) and highligh both your Local Area connection and Wireless Network Connection. Then right-click onto them, and select Bridge Connection. See if that get ride of the Unidentified Network?

I'd like to keep the connections separate.
